OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician / Theatre Support to join our bank staff. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional eye care services, assisting ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in IT systems relevant to patient management and record keeping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while demonstrating empathy towards patients.
  • Experience with care plans and home care settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct preliminary eye examinations and tests, including visual acuity assessments and tonometry.
  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared and functioning.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including care plans and treatment notes.
  • Provide patients with information regarding their eye health and treatment options.
  • Utilise IT systems for scheduling appointments, managing patient files, and documenting test results.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the examination rooms and equipment.
  • Drive to care homes or other locations as required for home care visits or outreach programmes.
