Priory Hospital Southampton is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join the team.
Set within beautiful, landscaped gardens, Priory Hospital Southampton’s tranquil environment offers therapeutic and recovery-focused residential treatment for those suffering from a number of mental health conditions. We can support adult males and females with acute mental health needs, as well as eating disorders

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. Whether you’re assisting with day-to-day operations, supporting with care requirements, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

  • Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.
  • Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such addressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
  • Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
  • Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

The role requires a minimum of NVQ Level 1 or GCSE qualifications in Mathematics and English, along with an understanding of the need for strict confidentiality and basic IT literacy. No specific prior experience is necessary; however, the successful candidate will be required to complete the Care Certificate during the probation period, regardless of whether it has been previously attained.
