Catering Assistant | Manchester | Day / Evening / Weekend Shift Cover | Flexible working hours | £12.76 per hour + excellent benefits Spire Manchester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our dynamic and experienced hospitality team working on an as and when basis to help cover sickness and annual leave in our team. Working Hours: Varied shifts across 7 days a week Contract type: Bank/Zero hours As Catering Assistant, you will be responsible to assist in the preparation and delivery of a high standard of food and beverage service to patients, visitors, consultants and staff. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to): * To assist, as directed, with preparation, presentation and service of food and beverages, to the specified standard, to staff, patients and consultants * To assist with the service of food to staff, consultants, visitors and patients in both the restaurant and wards * To pro-actively engage with patients to raise awareness of the availability of a food and beverage service that can be tailored to suit their individual needs * To take orders from customers in relation to food and beverage requests, adhering to any special dietary requirements or specific needs * To maintain adequate control of all stock through stock rotation, date checking and ensuring packaging is intact * To adhere to all statutory regulations, pertaining to the safety and hygienic operation of the kitchen and ancillary areas, as per the catering policy * To comply with the health and safety procedures in accordance with current legislation * To undertake general cleaning and washing up duties associated with a large commercial kitchen in accordance with a schedule of works * To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in all tasks and duties Who are we looking for? * Experience of working in a catering role * Good communication and organisational skills * Excellent customer care skills * Ability to work without supervision * Caring and sympathetic * Ability to work evenings and possibly some weekends * Able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the department Benefits * Bank colleagues are paid weekly * We offer competitive rates to our bank colleagues who work on a flexible basis, often to cover busy periods, sickness, or annual leave * Save an average of £50 per month with our free onsite car park * Access to Spire Healthcare pension * Free uniform * Free DBS * Full induction, including mandatory training updates * Opportunities for further training and progression into permanent posts * Knowledge, support and guidance through your recruitment journey from Spire’s specialist Resourcing Team We commit to our employees well-being through work life balance, on-going development, support and reward.
