Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a Bank Housekeeper, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness at the hospice and nearby Business Centre on Staffordshire Technology Park. This varied role will involve cleaning patient rooms, clinical areas and offices.
Please note, an enhanced DBS will be required for this role

ROLE WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT

The Housekeeper’s role is to provide all housekeeping services and to ensure that all cleaning work within the hospice is carried out according to agreed schedules and in an efficient and timely manner.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Detailed below are areas of activity, which the post-holder will be expected to carry out. The list is not comprehensive.
The post holder will have direct responsibility for:
1. Cleaning all floor areas in corridors, bedrooms, waiting areas, reception area, treatment areas and offices
2. Mopping floors in wet areas
3. Clean accessible light fittings
4. Clean high lampshades as necessary

  1. Clean and damp dust:
  • Furniture and fittings
  • Sluices
  • Offices
  • Radiators and pipes
  • Accessible light fittings
  • Window ledges
  • Doors and frames
  • All other surfaces
  1. Remove marks and stains from interior windows
  2. Carry out refuse collection as required and, where applicable, wash out receptacles
  3. Top-up housekeeping disposable items
  4. Maintain housekeeping machinery and equipment in a clean condition
  5. Clean all chairs
  6. High dust
  7. Shampoo carpets as required according to the agreed schedule
  8. Clean all wash basins, sinks, showers, baths and lavatories
  9. Laundry duties as necessary

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. All employees have a responsibility to abide by the safety practices and codes authorised by Katharine House Hospice. They have an equal responsibility with management for maintaining safe working practices.
  2. Housekeepers work individually but frequently come into contact with visitors to the hospice, members of the public, staff and patients. Housekeepers are expected to work in a courteous and friendly manner with members of the hospice team, patients and members of the public.
  3. All staff are required to understand the nature of confidentiality as it applies to information about staff and patients. No information should be given to anyone, other than authorised personnel, if it relates in any way to matters considered confidential by Katharine House Hospice.
  4. Deep cleans in all areas of the hospice on a monthly basis and will have to fill out appropriate paperwork for cleaning audits and legionella checks ie running taps and recording
