We are looking to recruit a number of exam invigilators to join our friendly and well-established bank of staff. The role involves assisting in the supervision and administration of external examinations and acting alongside, or instead of, permanent staff of the College. You will also ensure that the security and integrity of the examination is maintained in accordance with the regulations of the examining body and of the College.
We have set up a ‘panel’ of reliable persons whom we ask to invigilate on specific days or sessions, possibly at fairly short notice. In view of the increase in examinations this year, we are enlarging this panel. An academic background is not necessary, the most important qualities required being honesty, integrity and common sense. Assistance and guidance will be given. Invigilators will be responsible to the Lead Examinations Officer.
If successful, you would play a vital role in the College, which is graded as ‘outstanding’ in all categories by Ofsted. Our College excels in providing a broad, inclusive and high-quality education to all of our learners, which has resulted in some of the highest levels of progression to Higher Education in the sector. In 2023, students at Joseph Chamberlain College achieved outstanding exam results.
Our College is situated within easy reach of Birmingham City Centre, in a state-of-the-art building with superbly equipped classrooms and outstanding facilities.
We were featured in the 2019 Parliamentary Review for best practice in further education for the second time and we have been awarded the Teachers’ Development Trust (TDT) Silver Award for our comprehensive package of innovative and high impact professional development.
If you are aspirational for all young people and want to play a part in shaping their futures, we would really like to hear from you.
The hourly rate of pay is £13.68 per hour (includes 12.07% of holiday enhancement) (£15.11 per hour if you are in charge of conducting the examination which includes an element of holiday entitlement) and you will be paid for a minimum of 2.5 hours per day, even if the session is shorter than that.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO SAFEGUARDING AND PROMOTING THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN AND EXPECT ALL STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS TO RESPECT THIS COMMITMENT. THE JOB DESCRIPTION FULLY SETS OUT THE SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST. ALL ROLES IN THE COLLEGE HAVE CONTACT WITH CHILDREN AND AS SUCH ANYONE THAT IS EMPLOYED BY THE COLLEGE IS CONSIDERED TO BE ENGAGED IN REGULATED ACTIVITIES THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE REQUIRED TO UNDERTAKE AN ENHANCED DISCLOSURE VIA THE DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE. AS THIS POSITION IS WORKING IN REGULATED ACTIVITY, IT IS THEREFORE EXEMPT FROM THE REHABILITATION OF OFFENDERS ACT 1974 AND THE AMENDMENTS TO THE EXCEPTIONS ORDER 1975, 2013 AND 2020. JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN SIXTH FORM COLLEGE IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER, WE WELCOME APPLICATIONS FROM ALL SECTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY.
