Description

Redwood Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join our team as a Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Specialist. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, and related regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent analytical, evaluation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of banking and fraud threats posed by Money Laundering activities.
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to financial institutions (i.e., BSA, AML, OFAC, USA Patriot Act).
  • Ability to operate a PC with proficient use of word processing, spreadsheet, fraud identification and AML software.
  • Ability to organize workflow efficiently, self-direct personal training needs and utilize available resources.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis, draw logical conclusions and make recommendations when needed.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion, and tact.
  • Ability to distinguish and manage confidential information, materials, and conversations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse environment, including working with team members from other departments.
  • Ability to effectively work with department team members and management.
    The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma with a minimum of three years of experience in BSA/AML or in depository financial institutions.

COMPENSATION: BASE STARTING RANGE: $29.00 TO $39.00 HOURLY COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.

Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.

Responsibilities

o Review daily transaction reports and prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) in accordance with BSA requirements and regulatory deadlines.
o Investigate and document BSA alerts, including the preparation and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when necessary.
o Analyze member and transactional data to detect suspicious activity, identify patterns, and determine appropriate actions.
o Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) on high-risk members and applications, providing recommendations for approval or denial based on AML risk.
o Respond to internal escalations and watch list alerts (e.g., OFAC, SDN), ensuring timely and accurate resolution and documentation.
o Stay informed on evolving BSA/AML regulations and recommend process improvements to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
