JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in a care home or nursing home setting, assisting with daily living activities and promoting the well-being of residents. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care, particularly for those with dementia and other behavioural challenges.

SKILLS

  • Previous experience in a nursing home or care home setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of dementia care principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective care plans that address individual needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Capability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and understanding.
  • Physical stamina for heavy lifting and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and meal preparation.
  • Implement and follow care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring the highest standard of care is maintained.
  • Provide support in behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and enhance residents’ quality of life.
  • Administer medication as prescribed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff.
  • Perform heavy lifting as required to assist residents with mobility or during transfers.
  • Drive residents to appointments or activities as needed, ensuring their safety during transport.
