Kean Miller is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to work in our downtown Houston office. This role is open to both on-track and off-track candidates. Off-track candidates seeking a reduced hour schedule are encouraged to apply as well. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Responsibilities: Assist clients across a wide variety of industries while finding practical solutions in distressed financial situations Represent clients in Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcies, including complex Chapter 11 cases, secured creditors, official committees, unsecured creditors, and Chapter 7 trustees Utilize expertise in handling complex workouts and restructurings Review client documents and advise clients on how to protect assets Assist with case preparation, legal research, writing, briefing, courtroom support and presentation Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, proofs of claims, etc. Must have the ability to communicate with Trustees, Bankruptcy Courts, Local Counsel and Debtors’ Attorneys Attend creditor meetings and other court hearings Requirements Licensed to practice in Texas Minimum 3 years practicing in the area of Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy Excellent verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented Critical thinker Excellent business judgment and high-level professionalism Candidates should have excellent academic credentials, strong writing skills and excellent references. Candidates must demonstrate the ability and the desire to interact with Kean Miller’s clients and to further develop client and referral relationships.
