As a member of the Credit Union's Legal team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, job knowledge, teamwork, professionalism and quality member service. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Review Chapter 13 accounts for needed write downs. Perform and track write downs. Prepare monthly write down report for VP, Collections. Review all cases to see if an outside attorney needs to assist, and provides necessary information to outside attorney. Monitor all accounts with active Chapter 13 plans to ensure balance is consistent with trustee balance Post and track all Chapter 13 Trustee payments with breakdown of principal and interest. Log and track all Chapter 13 Modifications (formerly known as Troubled Debt Restructures). Track Chapter 13 accounts for re-aging and process as needed. Reviews proofs of claim and reaffirmations for accuracy before filing with Bankruptcy Court. Qualifications Knowledge and Skills: Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience. Education (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. Other Skills Requires strong analytical skills that will necessitate independent judgment.
Responsibilities
The Bankruptcy Paralegal reviews Chapter 13 accounts, performs write downs, and prepares reports for the VP of Collections. They also monitor accounts with active Chapter 13 plans and ensure accuracy in filings with the Bankruptcy Court.
