JOB Objective:    Under the general supervision of the Manager, Collections & Loss Recovery, this position is accountable for preserving credit union assets by monitoring all aspects of the Bankruptcy filings.  Monitor and manage Bankruptcy portfolio to ensure proper follow up and collateral recovery.  The main goals are to assist in reducing delinquency, minimize loan losses and protect assets, while providing exceptional service to credit union members and employees.    DIMENSIONS:    * Monitor related areas which may cause potential loss to the credit union * Monitor and manage Bankruptcy portfolio; total loan portfolio of $200,000,000 * Maintain a productivity level consistent with those established for the department * Maintain an “at standard” scorecard average of 85%   Supervisory responsibilities:    This position reports directly to the Manager, Collections & Loss Recovery. There are no direct reports to this classification.   NATURE & SCOPE:   * Processes and files Bankruptcy related documents and/or claims in a timely manner. * Effectively handles escaladed legal or Bankruptcy calls. * Audits and tracks Bankruptcy files.  * Obtains and reviews Bankruptcy plans to assure compliance. * Performs activities to collect reaffirmed Bankruptcy cases.  * Monitors for Bankruptcy Trustee payments on confirmed plans. * Ensures the credit union is in compliance with all Bankruptcy laws. * Verifies that Bankruptcy notices are being resolved in a timely manner. * Reviews Bankruptcy documents to determine the credit union’s course of action. * Reviews Bankruptcy plans to ensure adequate collateral amount and protection. * Coordinates Bankruptcy related issues with Collections management and attorneys. * Coordinates recovery of collateral when applicable. * Active participant in meetings, shows initiative to improve processes and offers ideas to control costs and reduce losses. * Supports department and corporate goals and objectives. * Produces and maintains reports as assigned by management.  * Provides high quality, consistent work and documentation. * Performs other relevant and related duties, as required.         Education, skills, & abilities:    The Eight Superpowers   1. Makes each employee feel valued and supported for their unique qualities.   Other Education, Skills, and Abilities   * Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred with approximately 5-7 years of applicable collections experience. * Must have working knowledge of FDCPA guidelines and practices. * Must be knowledge of all aspects of Bankruptcy laws, procedures and filings. * Experience with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word and Outlook). * Working knowledge of business machines such as telephone, computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.  * Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills. * Must have the ability to work well individually and as a member of a collections team. * Excellent verbal/written communication skills; interpersonal skills, combined with flexibility and diplomacy.  * Ability to interface with members and credit union staff at all levels in courteous and professional manner in person or by phone. * Ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow policies and procedures and accept constructive criticism. * Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required. * Must be self motivated and goal oriented.   MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:    * Monitor related areas which may cause potential loss to the credit union * Manage bankruptcy activities as required to mitigate loss and protect and recover the assets of the credit union * Process and file Bankruptcy related documents and/or claims   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:    * Excellent ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing; ability to tolerate periods       of continuous sitting; ability to lift and carry weight up to 10 lbs.   ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:    * Work is primarily performed within a cubicle office setting.
