OVERVIEW

The role of a Banksman/HSG47 operative is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient identification of underground services and movement of materials and vehicles on construction sites. As a Banksman, you will be responsible for directing the movement of excavators and other heavy machinery, ensuring that operations run smoothly while maintaining a high standard of safety. This position requires strong communication skills and a keen understanding of construction site protocols.

SKILLS

• HSG47 qualification – understanding of locating and avoiding underground services.
• Previous experience in a construction environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to convey instructions clearly.
• Strong observational skills to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being able to take initiative when required. REQUIREMENTS

• HSG47 Cat 1 and 2
• CSCS (or equivalent)

• Direct the movement of excavators and other heavy machinery on site, ensuring safety at all times.
• Direct and guide excavator operatives to ensure safe and efficient usage of Excavator
• Operating Cat and Genny to locate live cables and underground services
• Communicate effectively with machine operators and ground personnel to coordinate excavation operations.
• Review services drawings
• Maintain clear lines of communication using hand signals or radio equipment as necessary.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
• Report any safety hazards or incidents to the site supervisor promptly.
