Job Summary We are looking for motivated and friendly Banquet Captain to join our team. We are seeking a meticulous banquet captain to supervise and manage all banquet events for our Club. As the banquet captain, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring that banquet operations run smoothly, and prioritizing the comfort and safety of our guests. To be a successful Banquet Captain, you should have strong leadership skills and be able to manage multiple streams of information. Ultimately, a banquet captain should remain calm in highly stressful situations and demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills. Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee’s position. Ability to perform all operational positions within the banquet operations. Participate in and lead department meetings. Process banquet checks accurately and efficiently for payment. Assist with banquet staff weekly schedule. Assist management, staff and organizers with planning the layout and logistics of events. Delegate duties to servers and oversee activity throughout events. Supervise setup and service of food and beverages. Confirm setup of event spaces according to customer specifications prior to event including moving. furniture and general clean-up if necessary; Communicate customer needs to kitchen staff. Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance. Train and develop catering servers using existing training materials. Meet and greet clients contacts. Venue layout, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set-ups, room capacities, hours of operation, price ranges, and dress code. Communicating to staff in pre-function meetings all specific set-up needs of buffets, receptions, and overview of daily events. Bill the guest main contact following banquet event order requirements. Team Member handbook: enforce and adhere to The Arizona Biltmore Golf Club policies. Maintain complete knowledge of: All menu selections available in banquet and restaurant. Conform with all safety standards and use of all appropriate safety equipment. Performs other duties, as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience Required High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum two years catering operations or banquet experience, or relevant experience, preferably in a lead of supervisor capacity. Must be at least 19 years of age. Must have Manager-level AZ Food Handler’s Card and Title 4 AZ Liquor Certification. Other Regular attendance is required. Additional hours including weekends and holidays may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position. Seeks approval before overtime is incurred. At times, an individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate. For Regular Full-time Positions: Busy Season: Individual is expected to be available to work up to or near 40 hours per week, including overtime as needed. Non-Peak Season: A minimum of 30 hours per workweek is required. Individual may be scheduled for additional hours if business needs require it. There is extensive repetitive motion in using hands/wrists. Work Environment This position primarily works both indoors and outdoors. At times, extreme temperatures may be part of the environment. Work requires exposure to temperatures sufficiently high to cause bodily discomfort. The noise level is usually moderate. Schedules vary and may include weekends, holidays, etc. as determined by business needs. During busy season (i.e., generally September through May), open availability is expected. OSHA Category Category III: Position engages in activities normally without exposure to blood or body fluids.
