Description
What You'll Do The Banquet Captain ensures the quality presentation of food and beverages to guests; ensures all guests’ needs are met, including proper service; and is responsible for the setup and teardown of equipment for meetings and/or food and beverage functions in the Banquet and training rooms. 1. Practice, support, and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino.2. Meet with all conveners at the beginning of all functions.3. Ensure the smooth, professional operation of the banquet functions.4. Promote positive guest relations and handle complaints and suggestions.5. Work closely with the kitchen to ensure food quality and presentation standards.6. Responsible for the organization of the staff and the timelines of food and beverage service.7. Perform administrative tasks; receipts, special events planning, and rental equipment ordering.8. Communicate with clients and staff in a professional manner.9. Collect payment for banquet room functions. 10. Ensure proper and timely set-up and teardown, and perform final walk-through of the rooms.11. Create, maintain, and facilitate a positive work environment.12. Smile and engage Guests and Team Members with a positive professional demeanor.13. Perform other duties as assigned What You'll Bring Job Qualifications• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.• Must be 21 years of age or older.• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisory or managerial position within a large multi-faceted food and beverage department. Supervisory experience must include maintaining a staff of up to 10, running multiple functions simultaneously, and overseeing functions of up to 250+ guests.• At least two (2) years experience working in a variety of capacities within a high-volume Banquet/Catering operation with one (1) year of fine dining service required.• Obtain and maintain a valid WA State Health Card/Food Handlers Permit.• Obtain and maintain a valid MAST certification. Skills and Abilities Required:• Demonstrate ability to produce successful results with minimal supervisor. • Demonstrate excellent communication skills; both oral and written. Read, write and speak English fluently.• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of special menu items, food preparation and presentation, presentation of wines and liquor, complete knowledge of all room set-ups, table set-ups, and catering procedures.• Exhibit advanced knowledge and skills using computer software, MS Office Suite and P.O.S. or register systems.• Demonstrate ability to present etiquette in table setting and service.• Demonstrate ability to train and mentor diverse staff.• Demonstrate ability to work well with subordinates and management.• Demonstrate ability to work with and maintain confidential materials and information.• Exhibit working knowledge of health & safety standards, and safety regulations as required.
