JOB SUMMARY:

The Banquet Cook, under general supervision, will prepare, season, and cook a wide variety of meats, vegetables, soups, breakfast dishes, desserts and other food items on the Uptown Chefs Catering + Events menu including custom menus presented by the Sales Department.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to physically handle: knives, pots, pans, bowls, or other display items-trays of sandwiches, food/desserts etc, as well as grasp, lift and carry the same from shelves and rack n rolls and otherwise have the ability to transport up to 50 pounds to a variety of areas of the kitchen and bakery.
  • Ability to perform a variety of cutting skills on work surfaces, topped with cutting boards, 3 to 4 feet in height (banquet kitchen, prep kitchen, bake shop, etc.).
  • Proper usage and handling of various kitchen machinery to include slicers, grinders, mixers, ovens, warmers and other kitchen related equipment.
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by systems; however, one must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F).
  • Strictly adhere to and prepare products according to the recipes and prep lists given.
  • In all work areas, equipment and cooking utensils must be kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Inspect all food items for quality and appearance prior to serving consulting supervisors when needed and informing them of any issues prior to service.
  • Complete production sheets, prep lists and other records as required.
  • Ability to carve and display meats, vegetables, fruit, desserts and salads.
  • Assist in other areas as needed or required by your direct supervisor.
  • Must meet the minimum physical standards; ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 25 pound and stand for 6-8 hours per day
