Position Summary
The Banquet Houseman plays a critical role in the success of the hotel’s banquet and event operations. This position is responsible for setting, maintaining, and breaking down banquet rooms and event spaces according to established standards, ensuring all events are executed smoothly, professionally, and with the signature DoubleTree hospitality experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Setup & Breakdown
- Set up banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and event areas according to banquet event orders (BEOs) and layout diagrams.
- Arrange tables, chairs, linens, staging, dance floors, podiums, and audiovisual equipment as required.
- Maintain clean and organized storage of banquet furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Break down and reset rooms efficiently after events, ensuring readiness for the next function.
- Service Support
- Assist banquet servers and bartenders by replenishing supplies, refreshing water stations, and clearing used items.
- Monitor event spaces during functions to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper setup.
- Respond promptly to requests from banquet staff, event planners, and guests.
- Maintenance & Safety
- Inspect equipment for cleanliness and good working order, reporting any maintenance needs to the Banquet Manager.
- Ensure all setup complies with safety standards and ADA requirements.
- Follow all DoubleTree and Hilton brand standards for cleanliness, presentation, and guest service.
- Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with the banquet team, kitchen staff, and audiovisual department to coordinate timing and logistics.
- Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager regarding any last-minute changes or special requests.
- Assist other departments as needed, particularly during high-volume periods.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Previous hotel, banquet, or event setup experience preferred but not required; training provided.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs frequently and to push/pull up to 100 lbs on occasion.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of banquet room layouts and equipment handling.
- Familiarity with Hilton brand standards.
Work Environment
Fast-paced, hands-on role that requires physical activity and prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting. Indoor and occasional outdoor setups for special events.
