Position Summary: At the Georgia Center, the Banquet Lead assists the banquet team in creating an optimal atmosphere for large events, conferences and meetings. Banquet Leads are responsible for event set-up, working and/or running events, helping direct banquet student and temporary staff for individual events, maintenance of basic equipment and cleaning, and the breakdown of meeting and banquet rooms according to department standards. Handling cash/credit cards may be required at times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND/OR COMPETENCIES:

· Knowledge of the material methods and equipment used in setting up events.
· Help set up workstations with all needed supplies and equipment.
· Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
· Set up and prepare dining areas in accordance with banquet event orders, planning documents and production schedules.
· Exercise good decision-making and make changes as needed according to management or client direction.
· Work long hours while standing and under conditions of high temperatures.
· Communicate effectively and follow direction from supervisors and management.

Responsibilities

Participate in setting up events including moving tables, setting tables and chairs, staging, portable stairs, podiums, buffet set-up, bar set-up, equipment for speakers, etc.
Percentage of Time: 30
Follow operational standards that exceed our customers’ expectations for cleanliness, food presentation, and quality.
Percentage of Time: 20
Complete all necessary work for future banquet events, as directed.
Percentage of Time: 20
Ensure all meeting and event rooms are prepared for clients/guest a minimum of 2 hours prior to contracted time.
Percentage of Time: 10
Read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and planning sheets from Banquet management team.
Percentage of Time: 10
Clean up after the function: sweep, mop, clear dishes from tables, re-organize back aisle or staging areas as assigned, put equipment and supplies away in their proper storage areas. Handle cash/credit cards at times.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
