Job Description

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST have SMART SERVE certification
  • Must have at least 1 year banquet experience, hotel experience a definite asset
  • Pleasant manner and excellent communication skills (written and spoken English)
  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions, and work with little or no supervision
  • Must be in good physical condition; able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift; able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, late nights, holidays and weekends
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints and within established deadlines
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Smart Serve certified

Responsibilities
  • Greets guests and responds to requests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner
  • Follows BEOs instructions regarding meeting room set-up, meals, coffee breaks, and billing
  • Stays in contact with the host (on-site contact) throughout the event to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Works closely with Food & Beverage Management team in order to ensure proper execution of all events
  • Completes work assignments including but not limited to set-up, reception, event tear-down, moving tables and chairs, and side duties
  • Knowledge of the menu served for each function, and ability to explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item served
  • Promotes and maintains the highest level of customer service to all Novotel internal and external guests
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance according to Novotel’s standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to adhere to quality standards for safety, sanitation and food handling
  • Accommodates guest requests and provides information about hotel services whenever necessary
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned
