The Denver Athletic Club is a century-old organization with deep roots in the Denver community. We are currently looking to fill the role of Banquets Sales Manager. The Banquets Sales Manager will work closely with the banquet and food and beverage department to provide the highest level of service to our guests and members.
This role starts at $55,000.00 per year plus commissions on events sold.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and reach out to potential clients to increase awareness of what the club has to offer and increase banquet sales.
  • Markets and sells DAC catering services to potential internal and external clients; meets and consults with clients to inform of all services provided, and to establish the catering requirements of the events.
  • Proactively generate new leads through cold calls, warm calls, referrals, networking, and community outreach.
  • Develop and execute creative sales strategies to increase banquet revenue and maximize use of Club facilities.
  • Conduct engaging site visits and tastings, tailoring proposals to align with each client’s unique vision and budget.
  • Respond to inquiries with a strong sense of urgency and enthusiasm, providing polished and persuasive event proposals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all banquet clients, from initial inquiry to post-event feedback.
  • Provide personalized service and hospitality throughout the planning process, ensuring every detail exceeds expectations.
  • Build long-term relationships with members and outside clients to foster repeat business and referrals.
  • Sell space and work with clients to plan events ranging from 10 person meetings to 250 person dinners, conferences, and weddings.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other associates to ensure that communication lines stay open to best serve our guests.
  • Efficiently respond to all customer inquiries and emails in a polite and timely manner
  • Create and prepare banqueting proposals for potential customers, ensuring that all likely additional costs relating to the event have been assessed accurately and communicated.
  • Works with the Chef to create special event menus for a variety of clients.
  • Develops and monitors budgets and sales goals related to food and labor costs.
  • Managerial oversight of Banquet and Event team to ensure consistent SOPs and follow up.
  • Tracking and budgeting monthly F & B sales (catering specific).
  • Assists the Chef and F & B Director with key advertising decisions and ad development.
  • Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the department.
  • Develops and implements systems to maintain records on employees, equipment inventories, and compliance activities.
  • Create Banquet Event Orders based on the client’s needs outlining all food and beverage details, room set-up, audio visual needs and any special requests.
  • Attend regular management staff meetings.
  • Hold and lead regular BEO meetings.
  • Participate as part of a cohesive team, working toward a unified goal.
  • At required times, be present at the start of the functions to greet the client and ensure satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in a sales and managerial environment with two of those years in a similar banquet and events sales role.
  • Event sales experience with Corporate, Weddings and Social Events
  • Experience in marketing preferred
  • Proven track record of meeting goals and sales targets
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage
  • Needs to be an independent self-starter that thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment
  • Experience creating Banquet Event Orders that include food menus, room set-up, audio visual details, etc.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends, evenings and occasional holidays as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft
  • Bachelor’s Degree
