EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Grade 12 education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Serving it Right Certificate required.
  • Food Safe Certificate is required .
  • Have an understanding of most audio visual equipment regarding the setup, tear down and ensure they are in working condition.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with a variety of people.
  • Ability to interpret requests and respond promptly.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Bartending certification would be an asset.
  • Some wine knowledge is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as an effective team member.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Able to safely lift, pull, push, pull, or carry possibly up to 30 pounds depending on the task.
  • Being multi-lingual is an asset.
  • Available for flexible shift work.

Responsibilities
  • Report for shift on time, groomed according to standards and wearing the assigned uniform and name tag.
  • Obtain copies of the set up sheet for each function assigned.
  • Ensure the efficient set up and tear down of banquet rooms as specified in the function contract.
  • Refresh function rooms during breaks: clean the area, refill water pitcher, reset coffee break area, spot vacuum etc.
  • Abide by all laws and regulations regarding sanitation, health and safety.
  • Assist our guests with last minute changes and needs in their meeting rooms.
  • Ensure that all audio-visual equipment requests on a contract are in working order, clean and set up as per contract instructions (tests all equipment).
  • Maintain all facilities in clean and safe working condition.
  • Report to a supervisor any unsafe or harmful conditions.
  • Report to a supervisor any damage or loss of any catering equipment or facilities.
  • Ensure the return of all catering equipment and supplies to their designated locations on completion of each function.
  • Ensure that all equipment storage areas are locked prior to the end of shift.
  • Familiarize oneself with the set up specifications for all of the types of functions the resort caters.
  • Receive food service instructions and other assigned duties during pre-shift briefing from Banquet Supervisor on duty.
  • Some stress resulting from daily guest interaction (internal and external), budgetary, and time constraints.
  • Maintains a friendly, helpful and professional attitude at all times.
