POSITION SUMMARY:

The Banquet Server is responsible for providing excellent service to guests while serving their food and beverages throughout the event taking place at the venue. The banquet server is also responsible for preparing for the event, cleaning up after it, greeting guests, and checking in with them throughout the event.

YOUR SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Knowledge of beverage ingredients
  • Multi-tasking abilities
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and perform job functions with diligence, speed, and accuracy.
  • Confidence and knowledge of the venue while upholding the integrity of The Starting Gate.

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE:

  • Aid event managers in serving guests during banquet functions to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Set up the banquet room as requested by the supervisor to include glassware, silverware, and linen.
  • Attend event meetings before the event kick-off to learn function particulars, including guest expectations.
  • Responsible for assigned station, appearance, and sanitation.
  • Greet and welcome guests.
  • Respond to guest requests promptly, courteously, and friendly manner.
  • Serve beverages and food in the appropriate order and according to the supervisor’s expectations to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
  • Quickly remove dishes as guests finish each meal.
  • Abide by all policies, laws, and requirements about serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Replenish beverages when necessary.
  • Check in with guests to make sure they are satisfied.
  • After the banquet, reset the banquet room according to the supervisor’s specifications to ensure its readiness for other functions.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, and punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
