Description The banquet supervisor oversees banquet events ensuring each event if carried out flawlessly and every guest enjoys their experience. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and guide banquet associates to execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Provide verbal and written documentation to associates as needed. Write and present 90-day and yearly evaluations to associates. Train and develop banquet staff. Create and distribute Captain reports. Perform billing duties as needed and maintain company credit policies. Help with AV questions as necessary. Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction; responding to guest requests as needed. Resolve guest problems and offer recovery. Maintain communication with all departments to ensure customer service needs are met. Engage with guests and fellow associates May assist with the banquet scheduling. Adjusting schedules, as necessary, to meet guest needs. Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations. Assist the management of BEO’s and change logs. Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests; check identification whenever the age of a guest requesting an alcoholic beverage service is questionable. Clean and maintain workspace including tables, equipment, etc. Passionate about people and customer service. Specific job knowledge, duties, skills, and abilities: Frequent communication with guests and colleagues. Frequent use of basic math, problem-solving, and reasoning skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware, as well as knowledge of all menu items and methods of preparation. Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling or serving of alcohol, including the ability to take and pass the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam. Follow hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times. Immediately report any safety/service incident to the Restaurant Manager or the Person in Charge (PIC). Additional duties as necessary and assigned. Physical demands: Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 º F) and kitchens (+110 º F), possibly for one hour or more. Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis; maneuver cars or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds occasionally. Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length in limited space areas. Must be able to maneuver between tables. Must be able to position self to perform cleaning and set-up/take-down duties. Requirements A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Minimum of two years of prior food service/event experience is required. Must be at the minimum age to serve alcohol in line with any local legislative requirements. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
