Description Position Title: Banquet Houseperson Location: Rancho Santa Fe Department: Banquet FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Captain and Manager Revised Date: June 2012 SUMMARY The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for setting-up meeting rooms, audio visual equipment, and private events in accordance to the banquet event order specifications. Helps with polishing plates, glassware as well as set-up of cooking equipment, buffet, and coffee breaks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Set-up refresh and breaks down rooms in compliance with scheduled times and department procedures. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time. Be able to frequently lift 50 pounds with help of another staff member Break down and re-set all public areas after private events in a timely manner. Knowledge of all styles of room set-ups, standard equipment involved and proper handling of such. Ensure cleanliness and organization of storage and service areas. Responds quickly to requests from guests, supervisors or management in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress. Follow Health and Safety practices at all times. Actively participates in Safety Programs and abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements. Participates in and supports hotel efforts towards community service, sustainability and environmental initiatives. Performs other duties as directed, developed or assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Required Familiar with audio-visual equipment use, set-up and troubleshooting Valid San Diego County Food Handlers Card Ability to respond quickly to last minute changes Ability to communicate in English with vendors, guests and staff, to their understanding Desirable Experience in a high volume banquet 4 or 5 star resort environment (AAA, Mobil, Relais & Chateaux or other highly rated) High school graduate or GED-equivalent. Ability to communicate in other languages Prior training in guest relations. SKILLS Required Previous experience with banquet set-up, décor, elevation, flow Have a keen eye for details Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team Ability to follow directions thoroughly. Ability to anticipate and understand guests’ needs. Ability to move quickly and safely through workspace. Ability to focus attention on service details. Desirable Previous experience in other Banquet positions Previous experience in other hospitality positions TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS None PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property. Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity. Occasional need to stand for long periods of time. Lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
