Lively, popular cocktail & lounge hotspot in Long Beach is looking for a passionate and energetic Bar Manager/AGM to join the team! Located in a stunning part of town, this hip space is a go-to spot for Happy Hour, celebrations, special events, and nights out with friends. This role will be responsible for overseeing all bar operations, including but not limited to: training & developing bar staff, scheduling, inventory/ordering, upholding service standards, and maintaining cleanliness of the bar. The cocktail program is relatively set in place, with a few seasonal updates made 1-2 times a year. This role will also work closely with the General Manager to oversee management staff and maintain flow of service when not behind the bar. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of bar operations, experience training & developing bar staff, and ideally some prior exposure to nightlife. Someone with a true team player mentality who enjoys engaging with guests both in the bar area and on the floor, and can hold themselves and the team accountable to high standards!

BAR MANAGER/AGM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Assistant General Manager (AGM), Senior Manager, Service Manager, FOH Manager, Bar Manager, Beverage Manager, or comparable hospitality/beverage management role in an upscale restaurant, lounge, or bar concept
  • Strong experience with craft cocktail culture and prior bar operational experience
  • Some prior nightlife experience is highly preferred
  • Creative and natural approach to flavors
  • A sophisticated communicator with high standards of performance, problem solving and listening skills
  • Ability to create strong relationships with guests, members, and staff
  • Strong knowledge of bar operations and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage service, spirits & cocktails, creating and developing, cost control, labor control, and maintenance
  • Must be high energy with a positive attitude and team player mentality
  • Basic understanding of administrative functions
  • High attention to detail and very organized
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies
  • Commitment to providing exceptional service to guests and support to staff members
  • Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety
  • Computer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft office
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and closing shifts

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the FOH and Bar teams and all bar operations
  • Provide Support for the GM in a positive, collaborative manner
  • Willingness to work behind the bar and be present on the floor as required
  • Ensure the team is well educated on the menu and bar/beverage items
  • Perform all aspects of the job with a high level of professionalism and integrity
