Bar Manager
Location: Portobello High Street (New bar)
Reporting to: General Manager
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Hours: Full-time, evenings and weekends required

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience managing or supervising in a bar or hospitality setting
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Passion for craft beer
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during busy events
• A proactive, can-do attitude and a calm approach under pressure
• Personal Licence (or willingness to obtain one)
• Cellar management experience desirable, but not essential

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a passionate, reliable, and hands-on Bar Manager to lead day-to-day operations at the Portobello Bar You’ll be the face of the bar, driving excellent customer service, overseeing your team, and ensuring smooth running of the venue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily operations of the Portobello Bar, including opening and closing procedures
• Recruit, train, and manage a small team of bar staff
• Ensure outstanding customer service and a welcoming atmosphere
• Maintain stock levels, place orders, and manage supplier relationships
• Manage bar rota and ensure efficient staffing
• Oversee cash handling, POS systems, and end-of-day reconciliation
• Monitor health & safety, licensing laws, and hygiene standards
• Assist with hosting and organising events, tastings, and live music nights
• Work closely with the brewery team to promote new products and initiatives
• Be a positive ambassador for the Portobello Bar and its values
• Reporting to the General Manager
