Description POSITION SUMMARY: It is the primary responsibility of the Bar Porter to ensure the bar is stocked with all items and kept clean. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures Top 5 Specific Job Functions: Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain the budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste Deliver orders from the warehouse to the bar outlets and restaurants promptly - warehouse porters only Anticipate the guest's needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency Assist bartenders in the execution of service and follow the bartender's direction Empty trash regularly Other Specific Job Functions: Wash glasses to ensure the bar is fully stocked Mop floors as necessary to ensure a clean, safe work area Respond to the Bartender's needs by running for liquor, glassware, stock, and other supplies. Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignment Bid farewell to guests, using the guest's name when known, and encourage them to return Work as a team, assisting all guests and employees with their needs and inquiries Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas Performs all other job-related duties as requested This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position. Requirements Required: Must have 6 months of experience as a Bar Porter Must be 21 years of age or older Must have 1 year of customer service experience Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility A highly motivated and energetic personality High school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of and compliance with all departmental and property policies, procedures, and standards Working knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic selections available Working knowledge of two-way radios, knives, and pallet jacks Effectively communicate with management, bartenders, and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees Excellent customer service skills Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts Professional appearance and demeanor Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms Preferred: At least 1 year of experience as a bar porter. Previous experience working in a similar resort setting. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Alcohol Awareness Food Handler’s Card Union Referral WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Varies PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the physical ability to access all areas of the facility; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects; withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing at least 50 lbs. without restriction. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure; work indoors and outdoors, as well as being exposed to hot/cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors. Most work tasks are performed indoors; however, there are events where outdoor activities are required. Indoor temperatures are moderate and controlled by internal environmental systems.
