Description:

Job Purpose
The focus of the Bar Supervisor is to supervise the Team Members to ensure consistency of both food and beverage service ensuring that it is performed in a friendly, courteous, efficient and professional manner. Secondary to this, the role is responsible for ensuring the premises are safe, clean and comfortable, incorporating responsible service of alcohol at all times.

Primary Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all responsible service of alcohol procedures are practiced at all times
  • Greets guests and escorts them to tables
  • Trains and monitors Food and Beverage Attendants and ensures service standards are met
  • Ensures accurate recording and verification of Team Members time records
  • Supervises all Team Members in all aspects of the daily operation of the outlet, providing the necessary assistance where required
  • Ensures that approved service sequences and standards are established and maintained at all times
  • Ensures that all opening and closing procedures are carried out to an acceptable standard and supervises outlet
  • Maintains efficient operating procedures for the outlet’s point of sale cashiering computer system, ensuring accuracy and balancing of till and the department cash float
  • Maintains a high level of cleanliness and care of all equipment and materials; and ensure security of outlet
  • Promptly reports any maintenance work required to the Manager and or maintenance department
  • Maintains all outlet stock levels
  • Completes the Restaurant daily log book
  • Develops training plans and conducts on and off the job training sessions for all outlet Team Members
  • Attends all scheduled food and beverage and other relevant meetings when required
  • Monitors outlets manpower, payroll budget, control costs and maximise profitability
  • Take extreme care with personal grooming in order to maintain a consistently high level of professional appearance and monitors service personnel’s appearance and grooming
  • Punctual, efficient, and courteous at all times with guests and fellow Team Memberss alike
  • Is aware of own work schedule and always provides adequate notice when circumstance prevent one from adhering to that schedule
  • Handles all guest complaints immediately, courteously and satisfactorily
  • Greet all guests and escort them to their allocated tables when possible
  • Assists with conducting performance appraisals of subordinates as instructed
  • Other duties as may be prescribed from time to time due to operational needs
  • Monitor & maintain a beverage cost of no more than 30%

  • Use safe manual handling techniques, practice safe work habits following Accor health, safety and environment policies, wear protective clothing provided where necessary and take a consultative role in assisting and maintaining a clean, tidy work area and a healthy and safe working environment
  • Maintain procedures to minimise our impact on the environment and prevent pollution
  • Ensure all equipment is kept in good working order and used only for the purpose for which it was intended. Report all broken or damaged departmental equipment to your manager
  • Contribute to cost control through energy conservation, correct storage of all materials and use of equipment per operating standards and manufacturers specifications
  • Be fully conversant with departmental fire and evacuation procedures.

  • Support Food and Beverage team in pursuit of KPIs and guest obsession
  • Remain calm under pressure and utilise time management skills to complete all duties while supporting a busy team
  • Ensure all team members complete required training and assist within the department as required
  • Step into a leadership role for the Food & Beverage Department in the absence of senior management and respond appropriately at all times to crisis and safety concerns
  • Maintain the performance and inter-personal relationships of Front Office team members with respect, clarity, and empathy

Profile

Education/Experience

  • Proven experience of incremental responsibility within a hotel/resort environment
  • Proven experience in similar position within a hotel/resort environment advantageous
