BAR SUPERVISOR – OPIUM, DUBLIN CITY CENTRE

The Mercantile Group is one of Ireland’s leading hospitality and entertainment groups. With over seven unique venues in Dublin City Centre—including Café en Seine, Opium, Pichet, NoLita, Whelan’s, and The George—we offer exciting opportunities for career growth and advancement.
We are now looking to add a Bar Supervisor to our team at Opium. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for hospitality and leadership.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cocktail knowledge is essential – a solid understanding of classic and contemporary cocktails.
  • Fluent English is essential.
  • Ability to show initiative and lead by example in a fast-paced bar environment.
  • Confident in supervising and training bar staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Strong customer service skills – ability to interact professionally with customers and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Previous supervisory or bar experience is preferred, but not essential for the right candidate.
  • Must be flexible with working hours, including late nights and weekends.
  • Strong awareness of health & safety and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the daily operation of the bar, ensuring high levels of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and support the bar team during shifts, maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and stock control.
  • Help with training new staff and upskilling existing team members.
  • Ensure proper cash handling, till procedures, and adherence to company policies.
  • Be proactive in identifying and solving operational or customer issues on the floor.
  • Support management with stock takes and ordering when required.
