With panoramic views of the D.C. skyline and a legacy of hospitality spanning more than a century, WGCC offers an extraordinary member and guest experience- and we're looking for a Seasonal Barback to join our team for the upcoming Summer season! The Barback will assist the bartender with all applicable tasks to ensure proper shift preparation and smooth service. This job posting is intended for applicants seeking seasonal employment to support our operations during Summer 2026. Responsibilities Support the bartender as necessary to stock the bar in preparation of service, not limited to liquor, beer, wine, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories Follow prescribed pre-shift procedures, including the inspection of the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available Prepare garnishes, mixes, and pre-mixed drinks, including slicing, pitting and skewering garnishes Maintain and clean the bar area and equipment to keep a sanitary environment Load all returned glassware to the dishwasher, ensuring all glasses are polished before returning to service rotation Attend trainings and staff meetings, including pre-shift (line-up) sessions as required Maintain knowledge of all drinks, menu items, garnishes, and preparation methods Serve N/A beverages to members and guests at the bar in the absence of a bartender as needed Satisfy member and guest requests in a timely manner Stock, sort, clean, and organize the bar area as requested Greet members and guests upon arrival, using proper verbiage and names if applicable Report any issues to a manager as soon as they occur Other duties as assigned Requirements At least 18 years of age Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified or any similar combination of education and experience Demonstrate a high caliber of professionalism and presentation, commensurate with the expectations of a private club setting Ability to demonstrate organization and coordination skills Ability to multi-task in a sporadic, fast-paced environment Ability to maintain quality and safety standards Demonstrated strong oral communication skills to a wide variety of constituents Proven record of providing excellent customer service Desired Qualifications 1+ years of server or barbacking experience in upscale or private club settings Strong knowledge of overall bar operations Excellent communication, organization, attention to detail, and time management Comfort working with private membership, serving the same individuals and their families multiple times per week Self-starter with the ability to identify a need before being asked Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs; manual dexterity for drink prep, garnishing, carrying, and bending Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and exterior conditions and exposure to dust, fumes and gases Must be able to work in close proximity to moving machinery Independent mobility
