POSITION OBJECTIVE The Meadows Café barista is responsible for making coffee and tea-based beverages. In addition, the barista should be providing a high level of service and hospitality to all guests that frequent the café outlet and taking food orders to items that pertain to the café offerings.  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and beverage orders * Preparing and serving beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks * Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries * Answering guest questions about menu choices as well as promoting and recommending menu options to guests * Utilizing the point of sale system for order taking and payment from guests * Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs * Keeping the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized * Responding to and resolving guest concerns or complaints * Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service * Attracting new guests and refining the menu EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE * High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS * Strong verbal and written communication skills with guests, team members, and management. * Active listening and problem-solving abilities to address and resolve guest or employee concerns. * Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Demonstrated initiative and ability to anticipate guest and operational needs. * Strong organizational skills with attention to cleanliness, efficiency, and productivity. * Ability to apply and understand information, policies, and procedures to achieve operational goals. * Flexibility to cross-train in other areas of hotel operations as needed. * Professional appearance and grooming in compliance with company standards, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag. * Consistent attendance and punctuality aligned with business needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Flexible and long hours are sometimes required. * Light to medium work-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. * Ability to stand during the entire shift. * Must be able to maneuver throughout the dining area WORK ENVIRONMENT * Primary work takes place in Meadows Cafe area with exposure to a fast-paced, guest-facing environment. * May be required to deliver room service orders to guest rooms, including traveling outdoors in varying weather conditions. * May be exposed to moderate noise levels, hot and cold temperatures, and food and beverage handling.
