ABOUT THE WHOLE GRAIN HEARTH BAKERY

We are a small, owner operated bakery here in London, ON! We offer naturally fermented sourdough bread and rustic pastries made with organic, whole grains that we mill in house. We are expanding into a new retail location early September and will be offering a coffee program that features De Mello and a few other high quality roasters! We are looking for full time and part time baristas. Shifts will run from Tuesday-Saturday as we will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

ABOUT THE POSTION

We are seeking a dedicated Barista to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have a love for coffee, great quality food and a commitment to providing pretty decent customer service. As a Barista, you will be responsible for making tasty drinks, maintaining a clean and inviting environment, describing our bread/pastries/to go food menu and ensuring that customers leave happy. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently!

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years working as a barista with previous coffee experience (Shot pulling, machine maintenance, milk steaming, latte art, etc.)
  • Retail/customer service experience required
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Basic mathematical skills, with a knowledge and understanding on handling money.
  • Ability to problem solve quickly
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

SCHEDULE

We are looking for part time and full time baristas (openers and closers), Tuesday-Saturday. Cafe will open at 8:00am, so rough start time would be around 7:15AM for openers. Must be able to work Saturday.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with manager to ensure that the cafe runs smoothly
  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages (recipes provided)
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system for order processing and cash handling
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment
  • Assist customers with menu selections and provide recommendations based on their preferences
  • Package pastries/breads etc
  • Adhere to food safety regulations
  • Engage with customers in a friendly manner to create a comfy atmosphere!
  • Open/Close cafe based on instructions provided (close out tills)
  • Monitor stock levels and report to manager
