What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? Preparing consistently high-quality coffee and beverages with speed, precision and care. Maintaining a clean, organised, and well stocked coffee station throughout the day. Setting up and calibrating coffee equipment at the start of each shift, then packing down, restocking, and cleaning all equipment and the workspace ready for daily opening. Working closely with the Hospitality Manager and the Café Lead of front of house team to deliver smooth, seamless, customer service. Supporting the team during peak times and multitasking across service, cleaning, and prep tasks. Offering input into coffee quality, service flow, and ongoing improvement of café operations. Resolving customer concerns professionally and promptly, ensuring a positive experience for all of our colleagues at BNZ. Maintain strict compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations. What projects / mahi (work) will the candidate be working on now and into next year? In your first six months as the barista, you will play a key role in supporting the daily rhythm and service standards of the café. You will help maintain the coffee station, fine-tune workflows, and establish consistent quality in every cup. You will work closely with the Hospitality Manager and Café Lead to create a warm, inclusive team culture, build rapport with our colleagues, and adapt to the pace and flow of operations. Proven ability to prepare diverse, high-quality dishes at volume. Strong understanding of New Zealand food safety legislation and commercial kitchen operations.
