Barista Full-Time $15/hr + Gratuities Location: Summer Bay by Exploria Resorts Job Summary: The Barista will report directly to the Food and Beverage Manager and is responsible for operating the POS register, preparing Starbucks-crafted drinks, and processing credit and debit transactions and room charges. The Barista must provide the highest quality of service in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. Responsibilities and Duties: • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products. • Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customers' requests using proper equipment. • Tender transactions using company best practices. • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products for which they inquire about. • Inform customers of coffee shop specials. • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrinkage. • Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need. • Use all equipment in the coffee shops such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines. • Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise. • Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action. • Properly use kitchen equipment, espresso machine, blender, computerized scale, steamer, etc. • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager. • Display a positive attitude. • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained. • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management. • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair. • Notify management of customer or employee accidents. • Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud. • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation • All other duties assigned by management Qualifications Qualifications and Skills: • No prior experience required • A passion for customer service • Ability to handle stressful situations • Effective communication skills • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction) • Must be at least 18 years of age. Required Competencies: • Must be punctual, dependable, and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Ability to work under pressure and take initiative in a fast-paced environment. • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn. • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. • Must have a neat appearance and be well-groomed. Physical Demands: • Ability to speak and hear. • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. • Constant standing with some walking. • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50lbs.
