BARISTA WITH EARLY MORNING BAKING DUTIES

Location: Fresh Baguette – Bethesda (4919 Bethesda Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814)
Compensation: $21.00–$22.00/hr (including tips) | Base pay starts at $12.00/hr with room for growth

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is not a typical barista job — it’s a hybrid position that combines early morning hands-on baking with a vital front-of-house customer service role. You’ll begin your shift early as a baker (4:30AM–7:00AM), preparing our signature breads and baked goods, then transition to the front of the store when we open for the day, serving as a Barista and customer service expert (7:00AM–1:00PM).
We’re looking for someone who thrives on interaction — someone who loves starting conversations, helping customers find their favorite pastry, and keeping the front looking sharp and running smoothly. If you enjoy connecting with people just as much as crafting quality food, this is the role for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Back-of-House (4:30AM–7:00AM)

  • Bake high-quality breads and pastries to Fresh Baguette standards
  • Prepare doughs and ingredients for the following day
  • Maintain a clean, organized baking area, including fridges and freezers
  • Receive and store deliveries as needed

Front-of-House (7:00AM–1:00PM)

  • Serve customers with enthusiasm and warmth — be the face of our bakery
  • Prepare and serve coffee, sandwiches, salads, and pastries
  • Create an inviting store environment by maintaining displays and cleanliness
  • Share product knowledge and recommend items to guests
  • Operate the register with accuracy and confidence
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by solving issues with professionalism and care
