ABOUT MISSY LANE’S

Missy Lane’s Assembly Room is a social hub for music lovers located in the heart of downtown Durham, North Carolina.
Our mission is to expand the audience for jazz and improvised music. We provide a safe space for people to assemble, socialize and build community through music, food, drinks and reverie. Our partners are women and minority-owned small businesses providing diverse products and services including music entertainment, bar, food services as well as yoga. Our expertise is in music entertainment and arts-culture placemaking

SUMMARY

We are looking for a passionate and experienced team players to join us as Servers! We have part-time and weekend shifts available. Our baristas are pivotal to building a sense of community that defines the Missy Lane’s coffee shop experience through excellent and prompt service, expertly crafted beverages, and high energy. Working as part of a team, the Barista will create high-quality drinks we are known for that meet all Missy Lane’s Assembly Room standards and procedures.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Have previous experience in a fast-paced environment (1-2 years’ Barista experience).
• Have a passion for coffee, customers, and colleagues - because sharing your Latte art is a part of the day job!
• Have an understanding and willingness to perform all Health and Safety activities as specified by the General. Manager’s Guide, hence displaying a constant desire to overachieve by turning knowledge into operational excellence.
• Have a genuine appreciation for delicious foods that pleasantly compliment every cup of coffee, tea, or specialty drinks.
• Have the ability to embrace challenges in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
• Practice active listening and take action to resolve the issue while regaining customer confidence and satisfaction.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills, and obsessive about customer service.
• Take personal ownership for the store’s success, and be career driven with a willingness to learn and be bold, brave, and action oriented.
• Have flexible approach and can-do attitude, as each day can offer exciting new challenges

EDUCATION

• High school diploma, equivalent, or associate degree in culinary studies or food and hospitality management.

• Ensure the quality of all food items by meeting all standards for food safety set by Missy Lane’s and local public health regulations.
• Confidently operate a cash register and process payments accurately in cash or credit while maintaining a positive attitude during period of high volume.
• Encouraging a culture of excellence by working with your team to maintain high standards for health, safety, and cleanliness within the kitchen and across the store including food displays and refrigerators.
• Most importantly, have fun at work.
• Act as a team leader by coaching and supporting the team to deliver unbeatable experiences, while ensuring all procedures are followed, taking the lead on shift.
• Deploy the team according to the trading pattern, ensuring right people in the right place to maximize sales.
