Description Position Title: Bartender Accountability: Bartender reports to the Retail Manager Job Classification: Seasonal (November – December), part-time, hourly. $12/ hour + tips About: Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation (Catawba Riverkeeper) was founded in 1997 as the 21st waterkeeper organization in the U.S. Now, proudly part of an international movement that boasts over 400 local organizations, we preserve, protect, and restore the waters of the Catawba-Wateree River Basin for all through education, advocacy, and engagement. Our 5,000 square mile river basin includes over 8,900 miles of waterways across 26 counties in North and South Carolina. The Bartender serves as an integral member of the retail team and is primarily responsible for providing excellent visitor experience at one of our establishments that serve drinks, as well as hosts programs, and offers merchandise for sale. An ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, the desire and ability to serve our guests, and excellent customer service skills to represent the organization in the highest form. **Must be available to work evenings, weekends and some federal holidays** Responsibilities: Proudly serve the local community, serving as a brand ambassador, promoting awareness and advocacy for the Catawba Riverkeeper and our mission. Provides a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive experience for all guests at all times. Creatively and effectively prepares alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic beverages for bar patrons. Provides excellent customer service, assessing requests and preferences, and serving drinks. Help guests with other products, such as merchandise, and with information regarding upcoming events. Provides quick and easy point-of-sale transactions for our guests and participants. Accurately reviews customers’ identification to confirm legal drinking age. Proactively restocks and replenishes bar inventory and supplies as needed. Actively complies with all food and beverage regulations. Conducts all opening and closing procedures. Proudly maintains a professional work area, while always ensuring a professional presentation to the public. Develops and maintains broad knowledge of the Catawba Riverkeeper organization and able to answer various and broad reaching questions. Exemplifies the Catawba Riverkeeper mission statement and supports staff, departments and leadership in pursuing and achieving goals. Performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our values. Requirements Exhibit a passion for the mission of Catawba Riverkeeper. Successfully pass a standard criminal background review. 21 years of age. Reliable and consistent transportation. Must obtain and maintain the NC ABC Responsible Alcohol Seller/Server Program Certificate. Committed to a two to four-week schedule, with consistent attendance. Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Ability to lift/move 50 pounds. Willing to serve all guests equally regardless of their race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, marital status, disability, veteran status, genetic information, gender identity and/or sexual orientation. Education & Experience: Previous food and beverage experience. Comfortable speaking to a wide range of people and customizing communication accordingly. Ability to maintain an organized and detailed workflow with changing variables. The ability to make quick decisions and remain calm in various situations. Comfortable working autonomously as well as working in a team environment. Locations: The River Room (McAdenville, NC) - Taproom and event venue.
