DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM & COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences runs a very active PhD program with a rotating population of about 150 graduate students. Its researchers are highly collaborative within and outside of the department and often partner with the Department of Energy’s Ames National Laboratory, which is located on the Iowa State University campus. The department has a robust undergraduate major and provides an extensive amount of service teaching for undergraduate majors from across the university. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences includes sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University seeks outstanding candidates for the prestigious Barton Chair position, a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor. The candidate will be expected to lead and maintain an externally funded research group, supervise graduate students as part of their research effort, carry out classroom instruction (nominal load of two courses per year) and contribute to the service and/or committee needs of the department, college, and university. The candidate will have experience in any area of chemistry.
