HELP OUR YOUTH HAVE A GREAT FUTURE! Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington is hiring seasonal Youth Basketball Referees to support our youth sports leagues for 1st through 6th graders. TITLE: Basketball Referee REPORTS TO: Program Operations Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Safety & Operations CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Officiate youth basketball games with fairness, consistency, and professionalism. Apply and explain the rules of basketball in an age-appropriate manner. Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players, coaches, and spectators. Interact positively with league directors, facility attendants, participants, and families. Serve as a role model by demonstrating integrity, patience, and professionalism. Support youth in learning and enjoying the game of basketball. Maintain clear expectations for behavior and ensure safety at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by Club Management. QUALIFICATIONS Passionate and knowledgeable about the game of basketball. Previous referee experience preferred, but not required. Personable, outgoing, reliable, and trustworthy. Must pass a national criminal background check, a social security verification, a local criminal background check, and a national sex offender registry check. Must have reliable transportation. WORK SCHEDULE Seasonal position: October 17, 2025, to December 20, 2025 Games take place: Multiple referees will be hired to provide scheduling flexibility. COMPENSATION $35 per hour / approximately 2 hour-long games per week LOCATION Games take place at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington Clubhouses and Vancouver Public School gym sites in Vancouver, WA.
