The Battery Product Development team at Apple produces high-energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems for all product teams. Tightly integrated with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design, and Reliability Testing groups, we own battery module development from initial system architecture through ramp. DESCRIPTION As a Battery Cell Engineer, you will participate in engineering design and qualification efforts for new lithium rechargeable cell designs from concept to completion. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BS degree in Material Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related with 10+ years of relevant industry experience Experience with battery materials and cell design development PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years relevant research / industry experience. Advanced degree (PhD) in Material Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related. Hands-on experience in battery assembly, teardown, testing, characterization and diagnostics. Familiarity with applicable test procedures, international standards, and certified agency requirements applicable to rechargeable lithium battery products. Familiarity with current innovative production processes applicable to lithium rechargeable cells. Experience with production of lithium batteries including statistical analysis of performance results, process capabilities, and design of experiments.

Responsibilities

The Battery Cell Engineer will participate in engineering design and qualification efforts for new lithium rechargeable cell designs from initial concept through to completion. This involves collaborating across various product development groups to integrate improved hardware elements into a final design.
