KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field; or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant battery research experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in pouch cell fabrication and testing
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion and/or sodium-ion battery systems
  • Experience with material characterization tools (e.g., SEM, XRD, XPS)
  • Ability to work independently to design experiments, solve problems, and analyze data
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication
  • Passion for clean energy and working in a collaborative, innovative team

Bonus Assets (not required but considered a plus):

  • Experience in cathode material development and evaluation
  • Background in electrolyte optimization or interface studies
  • Prior work in startup or high-growth R&D environments
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Battery Scientist with strong, hands-on experience in pouch cell assembly and testing, especially for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. Reporting to the Chief Scientist, you will help lead the development, fabrication, and evaluation of pouch cells using our novel next-generation anode materials.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, assemble, and test lithium-ion and sodium-ion pouch cells
  • Plan and execute experiments to evaluate electrochemical performance and cell reliability
  • Conduct failure analysis and troubleshooting, particularly for non-graphite anodes
  • Collaborate with materials and electrolyte teams to improve full-cell performance
  • Characterize materials using tools such as SEM, XRD, XPS, etc.
  • Analyze experimental data and clearly communicate results and recommendations
