Job Requirements: The battery technician is primarily responsible for setting up and maintaining the battery shop facility, inspecting, and performing maintenance on battery systems. They ensure that the battery systems on GSE and aircraft are properly maintained and repaired. They maintain accountability for all battery section assets and electrical/electronic elements of assembly's nickel-cadmium and lead-based batteries. Responsibilities include issuing and receiving all batteries, test sets, and other equipment assigned to the battery section, providing battery support as outlined in directives, managing the battery control program, and ensuring proper markings and labeling of batteries. The technician operates and calibrates battery testing and general-purpose equipment, conducts on-the-job training as required, and ensures all operations are conducted safely. Duties and responsibilities: Ensure that battery maintenance activities and procedures among designated VA organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established operational readiness (OR) rates in accordance with contractual requirements. Maintain compliance with established battery maintenance systems, processes, and procedures. Establish daily battery section maintenance processes to meet operational goals, objectives, and priorities. Oversee daily tool maintenance management supporting the battery section and manager. Work within maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards. Conduct on-the-job training as required. Perform other tasks as directed by the PC Manager. Operate within broad guidelines, with significant autonomy to select methods and implement goals within duties and responsibilities.
