Position: Primary BCIN Designer
Location: 230 Don Park Road, Markham, ON (In-office, weekdays approximately 9 AM - 5 PM)

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and qualified BCIN Designer to serve as the primary designer for our company. In this key role, you will lead design activities, ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code requirements, and support our multi-family rental development projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking on the responsibility of being the main BCIN holder for Lotmax and has expertise in relevant housing initiatives and multi-family rental building types.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary BCIN-qualified designer for the firm, reviewing and certifying designs in accordance with Ontario’s Building Code.
  • Develop and prepare architectural and design plans for multi-family rental buildings, including multiplex developments and projects aligned with EHON (Expanding Housing Options in Neighbourhoods) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architecture, interior design, and project management teams on multi-family rental developments.
  • Ensure all designs meet regulatory standards, sustainability goals, and client specifications for multi-family rental projects.
  • Contribute to project proposals and support the firm in securing new jobs through high-quality design work.
  • Work on-site during standard business hours to facilitate team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Valid BCIN (Building Code Identification Number) qualification in relevant categories (e.g., house, small buildings, or complex buildings).
  • Willingness and ability to serve as the primary BCIN designer for the company.
  • Proven experience and familiarity with EHON initiatives, multiplex developments (e.g., duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes), and multi-family rental buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, zoning regulations, and best practices in multi-family rental design.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to commute to and work from our office at 230 Don Park Road, Markham, ON, weekdays from approximately 9 AM to 5 PM.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
