ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES:

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Boeing Defence UK is offering an opportunity to join their dynamic Safety Management System (SMS) team dedicated to ensuring the safety of our Products and Services. The successful candidate will become part of a large, multidisciplinary SMS team comprising approximately 20 experienced professionals, specifically supporting the Boeing Defence Programmes.
The successful candidate should have significant experience in leading and conducting occurrence safety investigations, working as part of a Safety Management System (SMS). Significant experience in the facilitation of Occurrence Review Group/ Event Review Group utilising the Baines Simmons FAiR Model in support of Just Culture. The role requires leadership and technical skills in aviation maintenance and engineering.
The role will involve travel within the UK, with potential for some overseas travel as needed.

THE ROLE HAS THE FOLLOWING KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Act as the focal for safety investigations across BDUK ensuring investigations are coordinated with the relevant functional managers and leads.
  2. Govern the competency framework for safety investigators to ensure an equitable balance of investigators is available to support the SMS.
  3. Support the Safety Risk Lead to identify safety control measures in support of the Safety Risk Management strategy.
  4. Lead Safety Investigations across all the BDUK Programmes ensuring timeliness and quality of investigations.
  5. Lead and govern Occurrence/ Event Review Groups and applicable processes.
  6. Work closely with the BDUK Safety Promotion and Training Lead to produce SMS Promotion campaigns based around the investigation team findings. These should also be fed back into appropriate SMS and HF training mediums.
  7. Manage Safety Investigation metrics using the BDUK SMS tool. This includes the design and continued development of appropriate metrics and coordination of safety investigation inputs to relevant safety meetings.
  8. Lead the development and delivery of safety investigation and Occurrence/ Event Review Groups training.
    Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.
