OVERVIEW

Experience within the jewellery industry is not essential, training is given on all aspects of the job. You might have experience with working with textiles and know that you have an artistic eye for symmetry and asymmetry and are able to follow patterns exactly. The ability to work precisely and accurately is essential with a good sense of quality control to be able to reject beads that do not meet our standards.
The role requires you to support the sales team with while you wait restringing and on the spot resizing of the strung range. Support with customer service is something all team members support. A good level of literacy and numeracy and computer skills (G-Suite especially sheets) is a must. Plus an outgoing, friendly personality for this customer-facing role. You are organised, self-motivated with an ability to adapt quickly within a variable business environment.
This is a part time maternity cover role to cover 2025-2026 though there may be the possibility of a permanent position at the end of the cover period. Ideally we are looking for someone to work 2-3 days per week (Thursday-optional) Friday and Saturday 9.30-5.30, due to space in the workshop. Please note the salary displayed is based on a 40 hour week, the pay and benifits for part time roles are pro rata.

Pruden and Smith is a jewellery gallery and workshop based in Ditchling, a historic Arts and Crafts village, in the heart of the Sussex South Downs National Park. 8 miles north of Brighton. We are a small friendly team of jewellers, designers, marketers and sales staff working on and off-site. Repairs, adjustments and restringing of the strung collections.
Sales team support at busy times. (training given).
Completing web orders for the strung collections.
Administering incoming and outgoing deliveries of components for the strung collections.
Conducting stock takes on components for the strung collections.
