Description
About BEAM Circular BEAM Circular is unlocking the power of communities to transform waste into opportunity by building a vibrant regional ecosystem for the circular bioeconomy in California’s agricultural heartland. Anchored in the North San Joaquin Valley (NSJV), we facilitate collaboration through the BioEconomy, Agriculture, & Manufacturing (BEAM) Initiative to scale the most promising innovations in bioindustrial manufacturing. Our work spans innovation, access to capital, infrastructure readiness, talent development, and cross-sector partnerships that generate economic and environmental value for local communities. We are a mission-driven, collaborative, and solutions-oriented team that values curiosity, partnership, transparency, and a bias toward action. BEAM Circular is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. Position Summary The Opportunity Stanislaus – BEAM Business Development Fellow will support the Vice President of Business and Economic Development at BEAM Circular in developing commercial relationships with supplier networks, customer pathways, and service-provider ecosystems that emerging and established biomanufacturing companies need to grow in the North San Joaquin Valley (NSJV). Hosted by Opportunity Stanislaus, the Fellow will leverage regional business development platforms and networks to identify and cultivate a diverse ecosystem of companies—including upstream suppliers, downstream customers and offtakers, logistics partners, engineering firms, technical service providers, and corporate innovation groups. The Fellow will report to the CEO of Opportunity Stanislaus, while work priorities and performance under the Statement of Work (SOW) will be directed by BEAM Circular’s Vice President of Business and Economic Development. This is an ideal role for a natural connector—someone who excels at business development, partnerships, and ecosystem building, and who thrives in dynamic, multi-sector environments where cross-organizational collaboration is essential. Essential Functions, Duties, and Target Deliverables1. Partnership & Company Engagement Objective: Support business attraction, retention, and scale-up by activating commercial partnerships that strengthen the NSJV biomanufacturing ecosystem. Key Duties: Conduct proactive outreach to biomanufacturing companies and commercial partners, including suppliers, offtakers, logistics providers, and service firms. Assess company needs and partnership requirements; connect firms with relevant NSJV partners and BEAM resources. Facilitate strategic introductions that support commercialization, siting, and regional expansion. Support the business attraction and expansion pipeline through targeted outreach, materials preparation, and coordinated follow-up. Maintain working relationships with industry associations, corporate partners, and regional stakeholders. Target Deliverables: Partnership Pipeline Contributions: Regularly updated partner and company profiles, engagement notes, and opportunity insights contributed to BEAM’s partnership and business attraction pipeline tracking systems. Priority Partner & Company Profiles: Brief summaries outlining needs, fit, and next steps for high-potential engagements. Documented Strategic Introductions: A record of facilitated connections supporting attraction, expansion, or commercialization outcomes. 2. Service Provider Ecosystem Development Objective: Strengthen access to critical technical and operational services needed for bioindustry scale-up. Key Duties: Support the VP of Business and Economic Development in building and curating a network of technical, operational, engineering, and analytical service providers aligned with biomanufacturing needs. Identify, engage, and help vet or verify companies for inclusion in the BEAM Service Provider Network. Coordinate closely with BEAM’s innovation and economic development teams to integrate service-provider capabilities into commercialization support programs. Maintain active communication with service providers to track new capabilities, capacity expansions, or strategic interests relevant to BEAM’s pipeline. Target Deliverables: BEAM Service Provider Network Contributions: Identified, vetted, and documented service providers added to BEAM-managed service provider networks and inventories. Quarterly Service Provider Updates: Summaries of new capabilities, expansions, and partnership opportunities across the service provider ecosystem. Regional Company Access Toolkit (Support Role): Contributions to a BEAM-developed toolkit—led by the VP of Business and Economic Development—that helps companies navigate and connect with the right regional service providers, contacts, and resources. 3. Strategic Coordination & Industry Alignment Objective: Ensure business partnership activities are coordinated locally, regionally, and statewide. Key Duties: Support the VP of Business and Economic Development in coordinating outreach and partnerships across cities, counties, utilities, and economic development organizations. Work with the California Bioindustrial Manufacturing Coalition (CBIO) Industry Development Steering Committee to support alignment with statewide business development efforts. Support preparation of briefing memos, partner profiles, pitch decks, and outbound outreach materials. Translate insights from partner meetings and industry engagement into practical recommendations to strengthen NSJV’s competitiveness as a biomanufacturing hub. Target Deliverables: Partnership Outreach Support: Contributions to briefing materials, pitch decks, and partner profiles prepared for the VP of Business and Economic Development, and coordination support for partnership and pitch meetings. CBIO Partnership Updates: Quarterly summaries of NSJV partnership activity, insights, and opportunities prepared for contribution to CBIO Industry Development Steering Committee discussions and statewide coordination.
