ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL – BEECH GROVE HIGH SCHOOL

Reports to: High School Principal
Contract Length: 215 Days
Location: Beech Grove High School
Classification: Administrator

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Principal provides instructional leadership, student support, and operational oversight to ensure the academic success, safety, and well-being of students. This role focuses on instructional quality, student discipline, career and technical education (CTE), assessment coordination, and master scheduling. The Assistant Principal collaborates closely with the Principal, instructional leadership team, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to advance the mission and goals of the school.

3. CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) & COLLEGE/CAREER READINESS

  • Serve as the CTE Coordinator, overseeing program quality, enrollment, and pathway completion.
  • Collaborate with counselors and CTE staff to ensure proper student placement in career pathways.
  • Track student credentialing and dual credit attainment in CTE courses.
  • Maintain and grow partnerships with local businesses, postsecondary institutions, and workforce development boards.
  • Collaborate with District Data Specialists to meet IDOE CTE reporting requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed primarily in a school setting, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities for school events.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the school building are required.
  • Regular use of technology, including computer systems, student information systems, and communication tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 25 pounds in the course of supervising activities or events.

Responsibilities

5. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as acting principal in the principal’s absence.
  • Participate in IEP, 504, and parent conferences as required.
  • Attend district-level leadership and data team meetings.
  • Collaborate on staff hiring, mentoring, and retention initiatives.
  • Support/lead graduation, awards ceremonies, prom, assemblies, and community engagement events.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities, student clubs, and organizations.
