Description The Westfield Area YMCA is looking for caring, supportive and responsible individuals to join our team as Before Care and/or After Care Counselors for school age children (K-5th). We are seeking multiple candidates to work various shifts Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am - 9am and/or 2:30/3:00pm - 6:00pm. Flexible schedules available. Counselors are expected to assist the Coordinator and Classroom/Group Supervisor in all aspects of planning, development and execution of the program daily activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Accompany children (to playground, and exterior of building) in order to supervise activities, such as outdoor play and fire drills. Must be able to set up the classroom for activities in a safe manner. Assist with transporting of children by bus, as needed, always following bus policy and procedures. Help plan free play and learning center activities. Use positive reinforcement and ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants in the program. Be enthusiastic and encourage children involvement.
