OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Before and after school club assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to manage various tasks while supporting the overall development of children in our care.
Working shifts available -
Wednesday - Friday 7.15am-9.00am then 3.00pm-6.00pm

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE OF A BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB ASSISTANT:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Support children in their learning experiences through play-based activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming nursery environment.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative approach to childcare.
  • Monitor children’s behaviour and provide guidance as needed to foster positive interactions.
  • Help manage daily routines including meal times, transitions between activities and much more.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in early childhood education.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is highly desirable.
  • A background in early childhood education or relevant qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire children.
  • Proficient communication skills in English to interact effectively with children and parents.
  • A willingness to drive initiatives that enhance the club experience for both children and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a calm and organised approach.
  • A clean DBS which is on the update service will be required.
  • We will collect employer references and character references for this position.

Responsibilities
  • To provide all aspects of basic care for the children within the club.
  • To assist in the planning and provision of age appropriate child and adult led activities.
  • To act as Key Person for allocated children.
  • To maintain relevant records and complete appropriate assessments for key children
  • To ensure the club provides a high quality, safe, stimulating and supportive environment in which children are recognised as unique, competent and active learners.
  • To undertake appropriate training and professional development activities as required.
  • To ensure the effective use of equipment and resources and routine cleaning of toys/equipment to maintain the hygiene and safety within the nursery.
  • To actively promote the provision with potential and existing parents and outside agencies.
  • To adhere to Safeguarding, including child protection, policy, procedures and practices.
  • To develop and maintain strong partnership and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day to day caring.
