ABOUT THIS POSITION

This position is responsible for training and supporting staff within Options for Learning’s Behavior Health and Wellness Department. This department provides direct mental health services, as well as classroom behavior and management support to classrooms enrolling children from infancy through elementary school.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
  • Training classroom staff, coordinators, and supervisors to implement proactive classroom management techniques aligned with approved classroom curriculum (i.e., Conscience Discipline, HighScope, etc.);
  • Developing and facilitating trainings on a range of early childhood mental health topics for classroom staff, coordinators, and supervisors to implement effective behavior interventions and behavior plans for individuals and groups of children;
  • Providing direct mental health services, consultation, and management to organization staff, as well as students and their families;
  • Conducting consistent and ongoing consultation meetings/conversations, observations, assessments, and other consultative/therapeutic activities;
  • Supporting the classroom behavior coordinators, inclusion coordinators, and inclusion specialists in developing and implementing individualized behavior plans for specific children and particular classrooms;
  • Completing all documentation, as required by the contract, and according to the organization’s procedures and practices;
  • Collaborating with the Early Learning, School-age, Inclusion, and Family Engagement teams to address the needs of the children, families, and teachers and to ensure that all staff receive support and training for children with challenging behaviors;
  • Supporting the referral process for community-based services and resources as needed;
  • Communicating effectively with community partners, families, and staff;
  • Providing interventions to assist with mental health or behavioral crises as they arise, including situations related to mandated reporting and any suspected child abuse, in adherence to laws and regulations;
  • Maintaining detailed records for the monitoring of mental health referrals for Early Learning and School-age programs;
  • Reviewing appropriate documentation and providing feedback as a member of the department management team, including collaborating as needed to complete the Head Start Program Information Report (PIR);
  • Overseeing the documentation and tracking of mental health services identified, delivered, and referred for Early Learning and School-age children;
  • Reporting data to the program team and organization leadership team;
  • Maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations for Early Learning and School-age programs;
  • Using data gathered to identify training needs for teaching staff, coordinators, and supervisors to effectively support the children and families in the program;
  • Working effectively with other team members;
  • Assisting managers, directors, vice president of center-based programs, and the chief program officer;
  • Reading and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
  • Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
