POSITION SUMMARY

Behavior Interventionists are responsible for providing one-on-one mental health services based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or other evidence-based treatments to neurodiverse children and adolescents in order to improve their behaviors across settings. Behavior Interventionists work under the supervision and guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Mental Health Clinician in concert with teachers, parents, guardians, families, counselors, and other professionals to implement a client’s prescribed treatment plan and transfer skills to the client’s primary caregivers.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in or Alumnus of a Master’s degree or higher program in Psychology, Counseling/Therapy, Education, Social Work, Behavior Analysis, SLP, OT, PT or related field required
  • Minimum of two years ABA experience or implementing evidence based treatments to neurodiverse individuals required
  • Experience working with neurodiverse children and adolescents with developmental diagnoses is required
  • Successful completion of NY Mandated Reporter Training required
  • Current CPR Certification required
  • Active RBT certification or completion of graduate program in mental health field preferred
  • Availability during scheduled hours, which may include mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Passion for working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and/or mental health disorders
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members
  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and the state Office of the Professions for related mental health fields
  • Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to business associate agreement and HIPAA laws
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively, both written and verbal
  • Ability to implement established treatment plan with integrity, including goals and activities
  • Ability to navigate data collection software on tablet or other tech device
  • Ability to shift priorities and adjust execution of treatment plan based on feedback provided by supervisor
  • Ability to think on your feet and creatively engage clients while implementing treatment plan

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct therapy in home, school, and community settings utilizing ABA and other evidenced based principles
  • Implement treatment plans developed by Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBAs/Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and/or Mental Health Clinicians
  • Develop rapport, communicate effectively, and collaborate with LBAs/Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Mental Health Providers and other professionals and/or family members involved with the client’s treatment
  • Collect behavioral data as directed by the supervisor of the case using data collection tools and software
  • Complete and submit appropriate, accurate clinical notes per each session in a timely manner according to agency policy
  • Participate in ongoing in-house training and professional development on topics that include foundational ABA techniques, ableism, client dignity, and assent, disruptive behavior, anxiety and school avoidance.
