Make a Difference The Behavioral Health Consultant provides direct patient/family care through assessments, collateral consultation and therapeutic interventions. Exceptional Skills and Qualifications Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving. - LCSW or LMHC in the State of Indiana required. - Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health related field required. - 2 + years of experience providing mental health treatment required. - Utilization of conventional therapies of CBT, MI, ACT as well as complementary therapies of meditation, relaxation, breathing techniques. Conduct interventions to support health behavior changes related to sleep, smoking, nutrition, exercise and chronic health conditions such as diabetes. Ability to effectively treat wide scope of behavioral health issues, including trauma, as well as relationship and intimacy issues amongst couples caused by body image issues, low libido, lack of interest, sexual dysfunction, postpartum depression, adjustment disorder and anxiety. Triages patients accurately and efficiently in a variety of Community Health Network settings (for example, Community Pavilions, emergency departments, medical units, primary care). Demonstrates effective utilization of outcome scales. Documentation is appropriate and timely. - Assists in staff consultation/supervision and/or training (primarily HSPP, but could be LCSW depending on need). Integrates applicable research into clinical protocol (HSPP do the research). Plans, develops and facilitates trainings on specific bio-psychosocial approaches for the team. Assists with management of urgent behavioral health needs with medical providers. - Provides direct clinical services for patients within a team of multidisciplinary health care providers. Conducts comprehensive diagnostic assessments. Uses evidence-based behavioral health interventions for patient populations within the bio-psychological model for health. Provide comprehensive links to other treatment programs within the continuum as is appropriate to patient treatment needs. - Recognizes and commits to the critical importance of customer/patient satisfaction. - Mentors, trains and orients new BHC’s and serves as a resource on mental health/treatment challenges for multidisciplinary team. Communicates with medical providers, and staff, the recommended behavioral health interventions in support of the medical treatment plan. - Works collaboratively with the Team Leader to promote program quality/integrity and to achieve department goals and objectives. - Complies with all applicable Behavioral Care Services policies and procedures. - Actively involved in professional development and education commensurate with state licensure requirements. Builds knowledge of treatment adherence and chronic-disease management. Builds medical literacy skills.
